Coop Group is set to become the biggest retailer in Switzerland in terms of pick-up points for goods ordered online.
Currently, it is possible to order a product online and get it delivered in-store within the same sales format. However, Coop’s plan is ultimately to enable deliveries from the full range of their stores. This means that a customer would be able to order from the supermarket and from the department store, for example, and collect the items together from the nearest collection point.
Coop currently operate approximately 600 pick-up points, but are in the process of integrating over 500 extra points into the system. This will almost double its total.
In the first phase, the online shops of Coop Edile+Hobby, Import Parfumerie, Toptip, Lumimart, coop@home and Siroop will make deliveries to the new pick-up points.
By year's end, the online shops of Coop Vitality, Fust, Nettoshop, Christ Orologi & Gioielli, The Body Shop, Interdiscount and Microspot are planned to follow.
Customer orders executed by the afternoon in the online shop will be in its desired branch from as early as 12 pm the next day. Customers can check the status of their order online at any time. They can also opt to be notified via SMS or email when the goods are ready for collection.
