Coop Switzerland has announced that it has nominated Joos Sutter (pictured above) as the new chairman of its board of directors.
Currently, he serves as the chairman of the company’s management board and will succeed Hansueli Loosli, who is to resign in May 2021.
Loosli has been the chairman of Coop Switzerland’s board of directors since 2011.
He will continue to serve as the president of Transgourmet Holding AG until further notice, Coop added.
Elsewhere, Philipp Wyss will succeed Sutter as the chairman of the management board of Coop Group Cooperative, effective May 2021.
He is currently the deputy chairman of the executive board and head of marketing and procurement.
The head of Coop’s category management, basic food and cleaning, Andrea Kramer, will step in as the head of marketing and procurement.
'Great Experience'
Loosli commented, “I am very pleased that with Joos Sutter as future chairman of the board of directors and Philipp Wyss as chairman of the management board, two personalities with great experience will lead the Coop Group into the future.
"In addition, in Andrea Kramer, we were able to win a proven expert to head the marketing/procurement department as a member of the management board."
Other Changes
Doris Leuthard will succeed Irene Kaufmann as vice-president. Kaufmann will step down in the spring of next year after 20 years on the board of Coop Group.
Other board members who are to step down include Peter Eisenhut, Roman Kuhn, and Hans-Jürg Käser.
Grégoire Ribordy, CEO ID Quantique SA; Michael Fuhrer, CFO Hänseler AG; Karim Twerenbold, CEO and chairman of the board of directors of the Twerenbold Group; and employee representative and head of Coop's bakery department, Markus Beer will join the company’s board of directors.
