Swiss supermarket chain Coop has recorded a 5.1 % growth in turnover, with the company generating CHF 28.3 billion (€26.4 billion) in 2015.
Overall, its growth percentage was 5.2%, with currency fluctuations considered.
The number of shoppers making purchases in Coop supermarkets went up 2.6%, with bricks-and-mortar sales bringing in a turnover of CHF 17.2 billion.
In terms of private label, Coop’s turnover reached CHF 3.5 billion – a rise of 7%.
Largely through the company’s subsidiary, the Transgourmet Group, its cash-and-carry and ‘bulk’ deliveries saw their turnover increase by 15.2 %, generating CHF 12.2 billion.
Online, the turnover was CHF 1.4 billion, representing a 14.3% improvement.
