Coop To Open Four New Stores In Sweden

Swedish retailer Coop is to open four new stores this week, with 'Coop Örebro Baron', 'Coop Sundbypark', 'Coop Fairs' and 'Coop Örkelljunga' all due to open their doors.

In Sundbyberg, the former Coop Extra Hallonbergen has closed to make way for a redeveloped store. Coop Örkelljunga, will re-open after extensive renovation both inside and out.

"In dialogue with our customers and members, we have developed four new stores that contains the selection and service that is in demand, and fresh produce and manual counters are in focus at all stores.

"Coop's sustainability efforts also have large investments in state of the art refrigeration plants, which reduces energy consumption by 50%," said Johnny Capor, Acting President of Coop Stores & Supermarkets AB.

Coop in Switzerland released the results of a survey about "flexitarians" to coincide with World Vegitarian Day. It found that 40% of it's customers in Switzerland consider themselves to be "flexitarians", or part time vegetarians. Only 2% of their customers consider themselves 'pure vegetarians".
