Spanish cooperative and grocery retailer Coviran has opened six new supermarkets in Portugal in the last few weeks, operating under independent retailers.
The company's new Jose Nunes & Joana Afonso supermarket, located in Estoi, in the district of Faro, is the second opening operated by this retail partner and has a sales area of 95 square metres where it offers a selection of delicatessen, fruit & vegetables and bakery references.
Elswhere, Fresco D'amor is a new supermarket in the parish of Freguesia de Amero, in the district of Leiria. The 500 square metre sales area consists of the fruit & veg, bakery, butchery and charcuterie sections, as well as a take away service, a cafeteria, an optical shop and a hairdresser.
Also new are three supermarkets under the Myonlys name, which opened their doors in the district of Lisbon, in the localities of Algés, Campo de Ourique and Amadora. Each boasts a sales area of 250 square metres, with the charcuterie, fruit & veg and bakery sections.
Finally, a new store located in Aldeia de Mezio, in Viseu, under the name of Forno Da Rua, has a sales area of 70 square metres.
Coviran offers its members a business model that allows each supermarket to be autonomously and professionally managed, under a cooperative model.
Coviran ended 2016 with 330 supermarkets nationwide, distributed in 18 districts and the two islands (Azores and Madeira).
