Italian grocery retailer Crai has announced the new 'Crai Extra' format for large supermarkets with areas from 800 to 2,500 square metres.
Besides the traditional values of the Crai brand, the Crai Extra format will offer 'extra' services for customers, such as 'extra parking, extra surfaces, extra assortment, extra offers and extra departments'.
These stores are characterised by a wide product range, with a strong presence of private label lines (from the most affordable to the premium, such as 'Piaceri Italiani', to organic 'Crai Bio').
The company said great attention has been paid to service departments, as well as fresh and local products (such as the brand 'A due passi da qui').
The format was tested in 2016, with the opening of three Crai Extra stores: two by partner Fratelli Ibba in Sardinia, and one by partner Crai Tirreno in the Lazio region.
The positive results and level of customer satisfaction have confirmed the validity of the project and format, the company said, which will now be developed throughout Crai’s network. The next Crai Extra store will open on 16 February in Calabria.
