Dagrofa Appoints Tenna Skov Thorsted As New Head Of Sustainability

Danish retailer Dagrofa has appointed Tenna Skov Thorsted as its new head of sustainability, effective 1 December 2024.

In the new role, Thorsted will be responsible for developing and driving Dagrofa's sustainability strategy in the areas of retail, foodservice and logistics, the company added.

The strategy will take centre stage in the retail group's new three-year strategy, scheduled to be presented at the end of this year, the company noted.

The appointment will help Dagrofa consolidate its work in the areas of sustainability, ESG, upcoming EU legislation, such as CSRD reporting, and foodservice activities.

Especially in the latter, the retail group seeks to help professional kitchens move forward with more sustainable solutions, it noted.

Category director at Dagrofa, Jesper Bjerring, stated, "She [Thorsted] comes with an extremely solid experience from the food industry and from a company that does well in sustainability.

She brings a commercial focus, which is also important to us. I believe she has some very strong competencies in this area, and I look forward to seeing her further develop and strengthen our sustainability agenda in collaboration with the organisation, across retail, foodservice and logistics, for the benefit of our retailers, customers and consumers."

An Experienced Professional

Thorsted is an experienced professional, who, most recently, served as senior sustainability manager at Carlsberg.

In this role she was instrumental in driving a number of significant sustainability initiatives.

She will continue to sit on the board of UN Global Compact Denmark and on DBU's sustainability committee.

Commenting on her new role, Thorsted stated, "There are many opportunities to incorporate more sustainability into the production and distribution of our food products, and I look forward to contributing to securing sustainability as an important element in food for the Danes.

"I know that sustainability ambitions are high at Dagrofa, and it plays an increasingly important role in relation to suppliers, employees, competitiveness and customer relations."
