Danish retail group Dagrofa has announced that it is investing DKK 50 million (€6.7 million) to expand its network of Spar stores in Denmark.
The group plans to open 25 new outlets, with a focus on growing connections with local suppliers and communities.
Niels Karstensen, chain manager of Spar Denmark, said that the new stores will help "strengthen local areas around Denmark", with local franchisees who know and understand the customers.
By the end of 2017, Dagrofa aims to have 142 stores in the Spar Denmark chain. The company controls distribution to franchise stores operating under the Spar, Meny and Kiwi brands in the country, and also owns a number of stores itself.
Earlier this summer, Dansk Supermarked acquired 81 of Dagrofa's Kiwi outlets, which it is in the process of turning into Netto stores.
