Delhaize Belgium has announced plans to install automatic disinfection systems for hands and shopping carts in its stores in a bid to ensure the safety of its employees and customers.
The electronic disinfection solution, provided by Orange Cleaning, will be installed at the entrance of all 128 Delhaize supermarkets in a phased manner.
How It Works
Shoppers are required to secure their shopping carts via the rear wheels under the cleaning device.
When the green light on the machine turns on, customers put their hands in the sanitiser and the cart handle is disinfected automatically.
The retailer will provide posters on the carts and the entrance of the store to communicate the process to customers.
These new machines require minimal maintenance and store employees can clean and refill the system.
