Despar Italia has opened a new convenience store in Bologna, Italy, located next to the city’s main railway station.
The 386 square metre store features a range of 10,000 products, which are almost exclusively food items. The retailer says that it is placing special focus on the quality, freshness and convenience of its products.
The new outlet includes three self-service checkouts in addition to a traditional till. Air conditioning based on heat pump technology and a 100% LED lighting system have been installed to give the store a low environmental footprint.
Regional Expansion
Aspiag Service, the licence holder for the Spar brand in Northeast Italy, already operates two Eurospar supermarkets and another Despar store in Bologna. Overall, Aspiag Service operates 224 of Spar International’s stores across the region, and supplies an additional 350 independent Spar retailers.
Aspiag Service achieved retail sales of €2.7 billion in 2016, and achieved a market share of 15.61%.
