Despar Italia partner Ergon has recently opened a new Interspar hypermarket in the Fortezza di Modica shopping mall in Sicily.
The new hypermarket is located on the southeast of the Mediterranean island in Modica, near the city of Ragusa. Modica is famous for its chocolates and other high quality foods, according to Spar.
The store offers many products from the region and hosts a variety of sections including a butchery department with a large choice of meats, such as the certified locally-sourced meats of the Gustibleo range, a fish department with the fresh catch of the day, and a cold meats department.
It also features a deli, a bakery with freshly-baked goods, and a fruit and vegetable section focusing on locally-sourced and organic produce.
New Additions
The new store is introducing a bulk frozen food area as well as a health and wellness section to the local retail landscape. The latter will feature dietary supplements, gluten- or lactose-free foods, vegan products, organic ranges, health and beauty items and household detergents, according to Spar.
A selection of wines, craft and local beers is also on offer at the hypermarket, as well as electronic and household appliances in the non-food sections.
The company said that by opening the new hypermarket, Spar Ergon has taken on a new challenge and is providing sought-after employment opportunities for locals. It added that the shopping mall where it is located has already benefitted from increased footfall due to the new store.
