Spanish retail group DIA has announced the appointment of Pilar Hermida as its chief communications officer (CCO) for global as well as Spanish operations.
She will join the company’s management committee and report to the chief executive, Stephan DuCharme.
In her new position, Hermida will be in charge of the communications division and will be responsible for promoting the image of the Spanish company.
The board will devise the company's communication strategy for all the countries in which it operates – Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Brazil.
The Spanish retailer Grupo DIA has reported a 3.4% decline in full-year sales, to €6.65 billion, according to provisional data sent to local market regulator CNMV.
In its core Spanish market, sales fell 6.6% to €4.21 billion, while the Portuguese market saw a 5.9% decline, to €592.9 million.
An Experienced Professional
Hermida is an experienced professional, who has previously successfully led transformation processes around uncertainty in other organisations.
In the past seven years, she served as the director of communications for Heineken Spain, responsible for coordinating the communication of the corporation and its commercial brands.
She worked with Air France, L'Oréal and the European University of Madrid after working as a journalist for TVE and the EFE Agency for more than 20 years.
Hermida graduated in journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid.
Elsewhere, Heineken Spain has announced the appointment of Pilar Pérez Ramírez as its new director of communications.
