Discount retailer B&M has opened its latest store in the seaside town of Llandudno in Wales.
The doors opened at B&M’s Home Store & Garden Centre at the Mostyn Champneys Retail Park this week.
B&M is one of the fastest-growing retailers in the UK and its arrival in the north Wales seaside resort has provided a welcome boost to the local economy with 70 new jobs being created in the area.
The store is located at the former Homebase and all its former employees were successful in their application for jobs with B&M.
Speaking on its latest store opening, a spokesperson for B&M said, “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”
B&M’s various ranges include grocery, homeware, health and beauty, toys and DIY products.
In other recent B&M news, confectionery manufacturer Sweetdreams has secured a listing of its quirky chocolate treats Choc Nibbles at the discount retailer.
The new 250g pre-pack bags of Original Choc Nibbles were designed especially for the retailer and are now available throughout B&M stores across the UK.
This comes following an £80,000 investment during 2015 to target the discount sector of the UK market as part of its ongoing growth strategy.
Speaking on the new listing, Matthew Stephenson, managing director of Sweetdreams Ltd said, “This now allows us to be far more reactive to the market, developing new packaging formats with smaller runs and enter into new distribution channels, extend our reach and strengthen our unique brands in a highly competitive market. The booming retail discount sector is a key target market for our products."
Founded in 1978, the discount retailer is now one of the leading variety retailers in the UK. From its first store in Blackpool, Lancashire, B&M has grown to over 450 stores and employs over 20,000 staff. Selling branded products at low prices, it welcomes 2.5 million customers to its stores throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each week.
