Poundland has launched a trial online shopping service in the UK, making more than 2,000 products available online, with no minimum order and a flat £4 delivery fee.
Reuters reports that orders over £50 will be delivered for free, with all customers receiving their goods within four to five working days.
It has been mooted for some time that Poundland, which has over 500 stores in Britain and Ireland, where it trades as Dealz, has been keen to launch an online offering to keep pace with rivals Poundworld and Poundshop.com.
"The online shopping market is a rapidly growing channel and one which could provide a significant potential opportunity for us," Poundland's chief executive Jim McCarthy said in a statement.
Last week, Poundland was provisionally cleared by the UK Competition and Markets Authority to take over its rival, 99p Stores.
