Dixy Group has announced that it has opened eight new Victoria supermarkets in Kaliningrad, Russia, at the locations of former Sedmoy Kontinent stores. The new facilities have added around 11,000 square metres to the total retail space of Dixy Group, which is an increase of around 10%.
Over 300 of the former Sedmoy Kontinent employees have been re-employed at the Victoria supermarkets, after completing a retail-training course.
In addition to the standard Victoria range, the new stores will offer fresh produce, such as tomatoes, potted herbs, mushrooms, cheese and milk. The fresh produce will be sourced mainly - up to 90% in some categories - from suppliers in the Kaliningrad Region.
Dixy Group is a leading retailer in Russia. It operates 2,646 convenience stores, 116 Victoria supermarkets and 40 MegaMart- and MiniMart hypermarkets across the Central, Northwestern, Volga and Urals districts of Russia and the Kaliningrad region.
The group generated 2016 revenue of RUB 311.2 billion, which is around €4.8 billion.
