Jumbo, the second largest supermarket-chain in The Netherlands, is opening an in-store floral department at its Walburg shopping centre in Zwijndrecht on Thursday.
The new floral department will offer a range of cut flowers, potted plants and a flower-arranging service. It is the largest of its kind to make bouquets and flower-arrangements to order.
To mark the opening, Jumbo has promised a free vase to 400 of its customers, as well as a discount on poinsettias - the ultimate Christmas plants with bright red, star-shaped leaves.
"The colourful flowers and plants create a great atmosphere in the store. We want to surprise customers with a wide and varied range of quality flowers, besides the best service at the lowest price," said Peter Verhoef, store manager of the Jumbo Zwijndrecht branch. "Christmas is an especially good time to make a family member, friend or acquaintance happy with a beautiful flower arrangement or Christmas wreath."
