Dutch retail group HEMA has opened a new flagship store in Barcelona, located close to Las Ramblas.
The store, which covers a floor space of 643 square metres, is one of the group's largest, and is its first in Catalonia. Hema now operates a total of four stores in Spain.
In a statement, the group said that it plans to speed up its international expansion in the coming years, 'with a focus on further stores in France, the UK and Spain.'
Saskia Touw, formula manager at HEMA International commented, “We’re really pleased to be opening a store in such a special city. The area around Las Ramblas is home to many big international retail chains and therefore has global appeal for shoppers.
