E.Leclerc has boosted its annual turnover by 3.4 per cent (an additional €1.1 billion), and enlarged its customer base and hold on the French hypermarket sector, LSA-Conso.fr reports.
Its 2015 turnover stood at €35.6 billion, taking its share of the French supermarket retail market to 20.2 per cent. It also increased the capacities of its online and click-and-collect services throughout the calendar year.
Michel Edouard E.Leclerc told LSA, “The evolution in turnover for E. Leclerc outlets in 2015 is testimony to a consistent policy on low prices, which is more effective than this pseudo price-war in which certain competitors of ours are engaging.”
The online turnover it achieved was up by 20 per cent on a like-for-like basis.
The number of click-and-collect sales was up by 19.7 per cent, with 30 new points for this service created during the year.
