Employees at German retail-cooperative Edeka have won the prestigious award of 'Educator of the Year 2016'. The title was awarded - for the 13th time - by Lebensmittel Praxis trade magazine.
The competition aims to promote training- and career opportunities in retail. Edeka employees have reached the finals every year since the competition started in 2004. The jury consisted of experts in retail and assessed the candidates in terms of commitment, concepts, ideas and innovative solutions.
Independent Edeka retailer Christoph Kolb, from Volkach in Bavaria, took first place in the category 'Independent Retail', for outstanding commitment to trainees.
With around 16,800 trainees, Edeka is one of the leaders in retail-training in Germany. Its academic and practical training programmes cover more than 30 professions, in retail and wholesale, administration, logistics and IT.
