Edeka Extends Educational Project For Primary Schools

The Edeka Foundation, “IN FORM – Deutschlands Initiative für gesunde Ernährung und mehr Bewegung” (‘In Form: Germany’s Initiative For A healthy Diet And More Exercise’) is set to take its project, ‘Moving More - Eating Better’ to primary schools in Germany, for the fourth year.

With over 30% more ‘project hours’ allocated by the Foundation, this year the project will benefit around 18,000 students, aged 9-10, throughout Germany.

Designed to a theme of ‘learning and moving’, the project uses theory as well as practical modules, such as outdoor games and cooking to raise the young people’s overall awareness of food, diet and the environment - in an engaging way.

“The foundation’s project strengthens knowledge of diet and environment”, explained Markus Mosa, CEO of the Edeka Foundation, adding, “ For that reason, we make an important contribution to society with the programme.”

In addition, the Edeka Foundation has designed a kitchen-garden project for pre-school children, providing raised beds - free of charge - to kindergartens and day-care centres.
