Independent Edeka-Nord retailer Ingolf Schubert has opened a sixth outlet in the town of Waren (Müritz), in Northern Germany. The new Edeka Schubert ‘market’, located in the Teterower Straße, has a retail space of around 1,800 square metres.
The new store's layout follows the logic that fragile goods, such as fruit and veg, should be the last to join the goods in the trolley: instead of the usual fruit and veg department, the customer will find the cosmetics department located at the entrance, followed by the beverage area.
Dairy products and fresh-produce counters, including fresh fish, can be found at the centre of the store; fruit and veg, including local fresh produce and fresh herbs are located near the tills, as are the convenience foods.
In addition, the store features a 'Food Corner', where customers can prepare salads at the salad bar, try the dishes from the ‘hot counter’ and taste the pastries from the self-service bakery.
