Edeka Südwest has announced that it will mark the company's 90th anniversary this year by donating up to €90,000 toward the refurbishment of playgrounds in the region.
Launching a competition online, the company has promised to donate a sum of €50,000 to the most voted-for nominee, and up to €5,000 each to eight runners-up.
The company has invited private citizens, communities and associations to submit their choice of playground and pitch their cause, using video footage. It has also promised practical support for additional, private fundraising initiatives.
"We are looking forward to numerous applications and a lively participation in the online polls," said Christhard Deutscher, head of corporate communications at Edeka Südwest.
Playgrounds can be nominated until 4 June 2017. Online voting will take place between 10 July and 6 August and the winning playgrounds will also be announced, online, in August of this year.
