Spanish retailer Eroski has announced that it incorporated 377 workers as cooperative members in 2017.
Eroski added that almost 95% of the new members and partners carry out their activity in stores, mostly in the fresh sections, where the “Contigo” (with you) business model has been developed to offer greater personalised customer service.
Some 77% of those added as corporate members are women, which the company says highlights its policy on gender equality.
Integrating Values
Eroski’s integration programme welcomes participants into the cooperative business model and its values, and aims to inform them of the rights and obligations that they have when they start.
These additions enhance the unique cooperative management model of Eroski, the company says, and should lead to efficient and competitive gains for the company as a whole, due to the greater commitment from new members.
The retailer said that, from now on, employees are considered as proprietary partners, and therefore participate in the management and results of the company.
Eroski recently posted a 5.7% increase in profit before tax to €55.7 million in its full-year 2017.
