Basque supermarket chain Eroski has opened an Eroski City franchise in Zegama in the north of Spain, the company announced in a press release.
The store is built in the 'contigo' (with you) style, which emphasises the importance of fresh produce, a personalised experience, and a strong belief in buying local as well as promoting a healthy diet.
The store will offer 3,500 A-brand, private label, and locally-produced items. It will also stock organic items, and customers can purchase fresh bread and pastries, as well as a choice of select cuts from the butcher.
Eroski opened 44 franchises in the first half of this year in Spain, seven in the Basque country. They represent €6.6 million in investment and have created 264 jobs, according to the press release.
