Around half (52%) of these newly opened franchises are operated by existing franchisees, indicating a high level of confidence in the Eroski franchise model.
In 2023, Eroski retained the pace of franchise openings from previous years. The retailer opened 307 stores in the last five years.
The retailer added that it aims to concentrate further expansions in Catalonia, the Basque Country, Andalusia, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Levante.

'Optimistic' About 2024
The director of Eroski Franchises, Alberto Cañas, commented, “We are satisfied with the evolution of the Eroski franchise network. We have met the most important objectives, both in terms of growth in sales and profitability and in the number of new store openings. In this scenario, we are optimistic about this new year and we have to continue supporting the franchisee.”
Its store network is comprised of several formats, including proximity banner Eroski City (250-400 square metres), which offers an extensive assortment of food and fresh products.
The latest addition is Eroski Rapid (150 square metres), an ultra-proximity and convenience format, adaptable to any location – cities, gas stations, universities, or tourist areas.
