Italian supermarket chain Esselunga has opened its first laEsse neighbourhood store in Rome, in the heart of the Prati district.
The store is located on the first floor of the historic building that houses the Coin Excelsior department store, and covers an area of around 380 square metres.
Of the total, 260 square metres are dedicated to a supermarket area and wine bar, while the remaining space hosts a cafeteria with an open kitchen.
The store offers more than 3,000 SKUs, with a special focus on convenience, as well as a selection of Esselunga private label products, local specialities, and ready-to-eat dishes and sushi.
The wine shop offers more than 300 wine SKUs (extending to over 760 when ordering online), with a particular focus on local wines, while a sommelier is on hand to guide customers in their choice.
In-store customers can use the 'Presto Spesa' app for a faster shopping experience as well as opt for home delivery.
The laEsse format, which has been a success in Milan, where five stores have opened so far, was created to respond to changes in shopping habits.
laEsse is Esselunga’s second outlet in the Italian capital, after the superstore in Via Prenestina which opened in 2017. The retailer also provides an e-commerce service with over 15,000 SKUs, covering the city and most of the municipalities of the province.
