Italian supermarket chain Esselunga has opened its first store in the country’s capital, Rome.
Located in the Prenestino district, the supermarket has a sales area of over 4,600 square metres and includes parking for more than 800 cars.
The fruit and vegetables section includes more than 500 products. The fish department offers fresh fish already cleaned and not defrosted, including local fish caught in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The butcher shop provides over 350 cuts, while the gastronomy department offers more than 400 specialties. The bakery offers customers fresh bread baked throughout the day in addition to a wide range of pizzas and focaccia.
There is also a sommelier-staffed wine bar with a selection of over 800 wines as well as departments devoted to non-food goods.
Esselunga’s loyalty program, Fìdaty, entitles customers to discounts on hundreds of products each week and allowing the collection of points that can be exchanged for prizes.
With the latest opening, Esselunga now has 154 points of sale in Italy, in the Lombardy, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Veneto, Liguria and Lazio regions.
