Ahold Delhaize has announced that its subsidiary Food Lion has agreed to acquire 62 BI-LO and Harveys Supermarkets from Southeastern Grocers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
The deal, which also includes a distribution centre in Mauldin, is expected to close in the first half of 2021.
The retail giant will convert all the acquired stores to the Food Lion banner after the transaction is complete.
'Fresh, Quality Products'
Food Lion president, Meg Ham, commented, “We’re thrilled to add these locations and serve even more towns and cities across these three states with fresh, quality products at affordable prices every day with the caring, friendly service customers expect from their local Food Lion.”
The company has not disclosed financial details of the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions.
Salisbury-based Food Lion is Ahold Delhaize’s second-largest brand in the United States, in terms of sales.
Food Lion operates more than 1,000 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states and employs more than 77,000 associates, the company added.
