French retailer Système U has posted a 1.2% increase in sales for full year 2016, to €23.7 billion.
French publication Lineaires reported that excluding fuel, Système U posted sales growth of 1.5%, which included sales growth of 0.3% in its Hyper U hypermarket division, which accounted for €3.48 billion worth of sales, and a 0.7% increase in its Super U supermarket division, which accounted for €13.63 billion.
In addition, its convenience stores division posted a 9.4% increase to €2.12 billion, and its Ecommerce/Drive business saw sales rise 9.0% to €482 million. A total of 35 new Drive outlets opened over the financial year.
The overall commercial sales area across the group rose 1.9% over the full year, up from the 1.5% increase in 2015.
