German discounter Aldi Süd is to offer employees a guidance programme on health management at work (Betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement, or BGM), and at home.
From May 2017, the company will also deploy five mobile health-care clinics, in cooperation with health-care service providers MediExpert and IPN, to visit regional Aldi Süd branches and logistics centres.
The mobile clinics will carry out health screenings and advise individual employees on diet and exercise.
In addition, the company has announced a number of practical measures to encourage employees to look after their health.
The measures include providing free mineral water at the workplace and offering free seminars on nutrition, exercise and a healthy working environment, developed by the Aldi Süd Academy.
"Our employees are the focus of our company; we want to motivate them to maintain a healthy lifestyle, said Christiane Kosmas, head of human resources development at Aldi Süd.
