German retailer Edeka has opened a new store in Fränkisch-Crumbach, Germany, on the site of a former Edeka supermarket, which was demolished in October 2016.
The former store's staff and trainees have been re-employed, and will be joined by seven additional employees.
The new store has a retail space of around 1,500 square metres. It features longer service counters and wider aisles, in combination with lower shelving units.
The assortment covers around 15,000 items, including fresh produce, meats and fish, organics and regional products, such as yoghurts and cheeses from the local Käsewolf company, Otzberg spirits and regional wines.
The store also has an in-store K&U bakery department and an outdoor terrace, serving coffee and cakes.
The store will be managed by independent retailer Erich Kampmann and his sons, Dennis and Eric.
Kampmann commented, "We are constantly adapting to the needs of our customers. The generation-friendly atmosphere in the market enables all our customers to feel comfortable here."
