German foodservice company apetito has posted full-year growth and announced several new product innovations with which it hopes to continue its positive performance.
Sales at the group increased by 5% to €882 million.
"We are looking back on a positive financial year and see ourselves in a good position to continue to grow solidly," said executive spokesman Guido Hildebrandt.
Digitalisation
Apetito has also expanded its digital offers, launching an app for schools and developing a new online ordering platform in company catering.
"New webshops, mobile communication and newly designed websites have enabled us to further expand our innovative strength," said Hildebrandt.
Acquisitions
Since May 13, Canada's Healthcare Food Services (HFS) now forms part of apetito. Apetito and HFS are market leaders in frozen food concepts in the healthcare and 'meals on wheels' markets.
Additionally, the catering business has grown because of acquisitions in the German market. The purchase of the regional school caterer MenüPartner allowed apetito a to develop a broad market approach in the school and kindergarten markets, it said.
"Last year, the market was characterised by particularly high competitive pressure", explained Andreas Oellerich, the managing director of apetito catering group. "We were able to consolidate our good market position in 2018 and are among the leading four catering companies in Germany."
