Lithuanian retailer Maxima Grupė has appointed Gintaras Jasinskas as the head of its procurement arm, Maxima International Sourcing.
Maxima International Sourcing provides agency services to the group’s retail chains in the Baltic countries, Poland and Bulgaria, develops private-label brands, and engages in wholesale trade.
Jasinskas is replacing the procurement arm's chief executive, Tomas Palevičius, who plans to pursue a career outside the organisation.
'A Real Professional'
Commenting on the appointment, board chairman and chief executive of Maxima Grupė, Justas Riauba, said, “Commerce is a cornerstone of our business in Maxima Grupė’s current phase of growth. Gintaras Jasinskas is a real professional in this area."
"His long years of experience in the retail sector will be very important for strengthening Maxima International Sourcing and further developing its operations," he added.
Jasinskas will also retain his position as the chief executive of the procurement arm's Polish unit, which was established in March of this year.
A Long Association
He is an experienced professional and has been a part of different companies within the retail group for more than 20 years.
Before joining Maxima International Sourcing, he was responsible for Maxima Grupė’s commercial projects in Poland and Bulgaria.
Jasinskas said, "The company has put together a very strong team, with whom we’ll work together to achieve ambitious goals."
"Our priority will remain acquiring goods on attractive terms, so that we can continue to ensure good prices for our customers in all markets," he explained.
