Conad's largest cooperative, PAC 2000A, has appointed Giovanni Mastrantoni as its new president.
Mastrantoni succeeds Claudio Alibrandi, who will remain with the cooperative as a director, Conad noted.
Alibrandi served as president of the cooperative since 2010 and as president of Conad for two terms: from 2013 to 2020 and from 2022 to 2023.
Commenting on the appointment, Mastrantoni stated, "After more than 30 years as a member of the cooperative, it is an honour for me to take over as president.
"I would like to thank Claudio Alibrandi, my predecessor, for the extraordinary work carried out during the years he led the cooperative, and the board of directors for placing its trust in me."
The board of directors also announced the appointment of Vitaliano Gaggi, Emma Montano, Antonello Scalise and Salvatore Abbate as vice-chairpersons.
Elsewhere, Danilo Toppetti has been named as chief executive of the cooperative.
Giovanni Mastrantoni
Giovanni Mastrantoni, born in Monte San Giovanni Campano in Italy, was one of the first entrepreneurs to join the cooperative in Lazio in 1992 when it expanded its activities in the region following its merger with the company Ari.
Together with Eliseo Tarquini, he expanded the Conad brand and managed 11 sales outlets, three parapharmacies, and an optician's shop, both in the province of Frosinone and Rome.
Mastrantoni joined the board of PAC 2000A as a member in 2012.
PAC 2000A is the largest cooperative in Conad in terms of number of members, sales outlets and geographical reach.
Last year, the Italian cooperative secured a €20 million in financing to fund sustainability projects across its operations.
