Stina Glavind, the former director of Coop Danmark's Fakta chain, has been named an executive vice president at the group, and joined the Coop Danmark board.
Glavind, 43, will take responsibility for the Kvickly, SuperBrugsen, Dagli´Brugsen and Fakta banners as part of her new role, the company said.
Glavind joined Coop in 2011 as a purchasing manager responsible for dairy and bakery products. In 2015, she was appointed commercial director of Kvickly, and in 2016, was named director of Fakta, which was struggling at the time.
As director of the chain, she implemented efficiency improvements, closed a number of stores, and helped reverse the business' decline, Coop Danmark said.
Female Role Model
"I think that Stina is a role model for female leaders in an industry that needs a healthier gender mix at the top level," commented Peter Høgsted, Coop chief executive.
"Therefore, we are pleased that she has take on this job, where the goal is to continue to improve operations and generate greater synergy between the chains."
Her appointment, which commences on 1 October, means that John Hornbech Christensen has been appointed the new director of Fakta.
