The head of Lidl UK has stepped down after overseeing the supermarket's rapid rise in recent times.
Ronny Gottschlich has been replaced by Christian Hartnagel, aged 34, who will take up Lidl UK with immediate effect, according to the company.
Gottschlich spent 16 years at the retailer - six of these as head of Lidl UK, during which time the business grew to 630 stores in the market.
Hartnagel was previously a board director for Lidl Austria, where he held responsibility for sales and operations.
Sales at Lidl UK rose 12.2 per cent in the 12 weeks to August 14, according to Kantar Worldpanel.
