French retailer Groupe Casino has appointed Béatrice Avril as the head of food and non-food purchasing at Achats Marchandises Casino (AMC), the company's central purchasing unit.
She will report to Hervé Daudin, chair of AMC and a member of Groupe Casino's executive committee.
A Seasoned Professional
Avril is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of experience in purchasing and retail.
She has served in different management positions within Groupe Casino, including director of private-label food purchasing and market director, responsible for FMCG purchasing portfolios.
She holds a Master's degree in purchasing and innovation from KEDGE Business School.
Her expertise includes negotiation, management, and strategic development of purchasing, the retailer added.
She was instrumental in setting up the Auxo Private Label joint venture, strengthening synergies between Casino and Intermarché.
Groupe Casino
Earlier this month, Groupe Casino completed the sale of its 51% stake controlling stake in 60 stores to Groupement les Mousquetaires, following agreements announced in May 2023.
The French retailer also closed the sale of Codim 2 to Rocca Group, which was announced in June of this year.
The company added that it completed the disposals on schedule and will now focus on its convenience brands.
It will also set out its new strategy in November, with heavy job cuts still likely.
The final number of job cuts could be fewer than 3,000, depending on the outcome of takeover negotiations currently under way, the company announced in a statement.
‘Sale negotiations are still in progress for several sites,’ it noted, adding that the total number of redundancies will not be finalised until November.
