Grupa Muszkieterów, the Polish arm of the Les Mousquetaires business, has generated a turnover of more than PLN 1.65 billion (€380 million) in the first quarter of its financial year.
Grupa Muszkieterów operates Intermarché and Bricomarché in the country.
Turnover in its Intermarché supermarket chain and petrol stations amounted to PLN 1.2 billion (€280 million) during the period.
'Good Dynamics Of Turnover'
Commenting on its performance, director general of the group, Marc Dherment, said, "At the beginning of 2019, the trade industry faced obstruction with only one trading Sunday a month. Another unfavourable circumstance was the Easter shift from the first to the second quarter."
"We are glad that despite such a calendar layout and the introduced limitations, we managed to keep our network turnover at a satisfactory level. In addition, April results show good dynamics of turnover in comparable stores," he added.
Innovative Changes
Intermarché has incorporated innovative changes in its brand strategy, including new displays for fruit and vegetables, the group said.
Its home and garden supermarket chain, Bricomarché, saw turnover grow by 16% year-on-year to PLN 484 million (€112.5 million) during the quarter.
Its performance was also helped by the opening of six construction warehouses in the country, aimed at boosting its e-commerce business.
