The new outlet, the second MEGA store in the province of Venice, has a sales area of 3,137 square meters and employs 45 staff.
The store has allocated wide space to fresh products, and also includes fruit and vegetables, fishmonger, butchery and gastronomy sections, the company said.
The assortment offers more than 16,000 SKUs, including Italian local products, as well as a number of products in line with the latest trends, such as organic, healthy and pet food articles.
Sustainability Focus
The Venice supermarket also features an eco-friendly component, due to the adoption of low environmental impact systems. Lighting, furthermore, is powered by an LED network.
The goal of the MEGA store concept is to offer a number of branded products at 'every day low prices', guaranteeing savings without sacrificing quality, the retailer said.
According to Marcello Cestaro, president of Gruppo Unicomm, the new opening is part of a growth strategy, which will lead the retailer to invest about €150 million in two years.
Gruppo Unicomm is associated with Italian national grocery distribution group Selex and saw its turnover rise by over 4% in 2018, compared to the previous year.
