A selection of HEMA products have gone on sale in Jumbo Foodmarkt stores in Breda and Tilburg, in the Netherlands, marking the first step in the commercial collaboration between the two retailers.
Jumbo chief executive Frits van Eerd, and Tjeerd Jegen, CEO of HEMA, were on hand to unveil the first HEMA 'shelf' at Jumbo Foodmarkt Breda this morning, with the HEMA range set to be introduced on a step-by-step basis to all Jumbo stores over the next year and a half.
In addition, HEMA non-food items will also be available on Jumbo.com from this summer.
'Milestone' Event
"The unveiling of the HEMA range at Jumbo Foodmarkt Breda is a milestone in our collaboration with HEMA. It fits in with our strategy to ensure that customers can go to Jumbo for all their daily groceries," commented Frits van Eerd, chief executive, Jumbo.
The cooperation agreement between the two retailers will also see Jumbo take over the lease of 17 HEMA store locations in the coming months, mainly in city locations, while Jumbo and HEMA are also going to develop a joint store concept at six locations.
Elsewhere, HEMA will act as a co-sponsor for the Jumbo-Visma cycling and skating teams.
