Austrian discounter Hofer is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The retailer started operations in the east and southeast of the country back in 1968, and has since expanded its discount retail concept to over 480 stores nationwide, with over 100 in Vienna.
The company has over 11,000 employees and offers a range of around 1,000 products to meet the everyday needs of its customers, according to Hofer.
"We always focus on the essentials, convince with a strong assortment at the best price and guarantee the highest freshness and quality of our carefully selected products,” said Günther Helm, general director at Hofer.
“This strategy has led us to success. And we want to remain true to this strategy over the next 50 years.”
Looking Ahead
The retailer also said that it is looking forward to what’s in store in the coming years.
It said it will continue branch expansion and store modernisation in order to continue to be a local supplier to customers and make the shopping experience more attractive.
It also will work on capturing the trends of regionality and freshness, convenience food and food for specific diets, as well as nutritional awareness and the continuing reduction of salt and sugar in its products.
“Together with our customers, partners and employees, we want to continue on the path we have chosen: As a smart discounter with the principle of 'one-stop-shopping', we continue to cover all daily necessities, surprise with new products and make life as easy for our customers as possible,” Helm added.
