Austrian discounter Hofer has announced the openings of two stores this week in the run-up to Christmas.
A new store in Stainach-Pürgg, in the central region of the country, and another in Wiener Neudorf in the capital Vienna, are both set to open tomorrow.
Stainach-Pürgg
The Stainach-Pürgg store offers over 800 square metres of selling space, combining modern design with sustainable technology, according to Hofer. It replaces a former Hofer store in the neighbouring estate.
The store will include a ‘Backbox’ section with a range of 30 products including fresh bread and other baked goods. A large part of these products will be sourced from regional bakeries and made according to traditional Austrian recipes, according to Hofer.
It will also host a ‘Coolbox’ with a number of convenience food products, fresh fruit and vegetables at the ‘Hofer-Marktplatz’ as well as fine wines from all over the world.
As part of its sustainability initiative ‘Projekt 2020’, the new store is lit with energy-saving LED-lights and a heating system which reuses air for heating. The energy supply is sourced completely from green Austrian energy and only eco-friendly cleaning products are used, according to Hofer.
The store will employ 15 people, including two new hires, and offer 100 free parking spaces. Its opening times are Monday to Friday 7.15am to 7.30pm and Saturday 7.15am to 6pm.
Wiener Neudorf Store
The new Viennese store is located in the Anningerpark in the southwest of the city and offers over 850 square metres of selling space. It took three months to build and will offer special store-opening deals for Christmas, the retailer said.
As is the case in Stainach-Pürgg, the Wiener Neudorf store will host a ‘Backbox’, a ‘Coolbox’, a ‘Hofer-Marktplatz’ and a wine section.
Likewise, the store will run on energy-saving LED-lights, efficient heating technologies and eco-friendly Austrian energy sources.
It will employ ten people and offer 60 parking spaces and be open Monday to Friday 7.40am to 8pm, Saturday 7.40am to 6pm, according to the retailer.
