Swedish retail group ICA Gruppen increased its sales by 2.5% in May 2016 compared with the same month last year.
In total, sales for the group reached SEK 9,457 million (€1.01 billion) for the month. It also increased its like-for-like sales by 2.2%.
Sales were up across all the group's platforms, including its hypermarket business, Stormarknad (+1.3%), its superstore business, Kvantum (+1.6%), its Supermarket operation (+2.9%) and its convenience stores, Nära (+5.9%).
Sales in January-May 2016 amounted to SEK 44,746 million, an increase of 3.3% compared with the previous year. ICA Gruppen estimates the calendar effect for May to be -0.2%.
ICA currently operates some 1,300 stores in Sweden.
