Swedish supermarket giant ICA has reported strong growth in its first quarter of the year.
Sales at the grocery chain jumped 20 per cent to SEK23.7 billion - an increase of 8.7 per cent on an underlying basis.
Net profit jumped 11 per cent for the period; operating profit was up 8.3% on an underlying basis.
Speaking on the group's impressive performance, Per Strömberg, chief executive of ICA said: “The start of 2015 was stable with good growth in both sales and earnings in Sweden and the Baltic countries."
The group also closed a deal in Norway, allowing it to focus on the successful integration of Apotek Hjärtat into ICA, he added, which "strengthens this positive feeling".
Our new structure is now in place, he said.
