Sweden's ICA Sees Sales Increase By 8% In April

Swedish retailer ICA has posted sales of SEK 9,604 million in April 2017, which represents an increase of 8% compared to the same month last year.

Sales have been strong so far in 2017, with figures from January to April totalling SEK 36,107 million - an increase of 2.3% on 2016.

The retailer's hypermarket chain, Maxi ICA Stormarknad, experienced the highest level of growth, with an increase of 9.6% on a like-for-like basis.

Earlier this week, ICA announced that it had managed to cut greenhouse gas emissions in its business by more than a third over the past year, with plans to reduce this by a further 30% by the end of the decade, as part of a sustainability drive.

ICA operates almost 1,300 stores across Sweden.
