Swedish retailer ICA has announced that sales increased by 4.4% in September 2017, compared with the same month last year, while sales in like-for-like stores increased by 3.6%.
Sales in September totalled SEK 9,144 million, bringing the retailer's total for the year, from January to September, to SEK 84,981 million, representing an increase of 2.8% compared with the previous year.
The group saw sales increase across all banners, including Maxi ICA hypermarkets (+5.7%), ICA Kvantum supermarkets (+2.5%), ICA supermarkets (+2.9%), and ICA Nära convenience stores (+2.4%).
As of 30 September 2017, the number of ICA stores in Sweden was 1,287.
In terms of its international operations, ICA Gruppen proposed the sale of 17 of its Lithuanian Rimi stores last week, in order to receive approval for its acquisition of UAB Palink, which runs the IKI retail chain in the country.
