Global food and consumer goods expert IGD celebrated a successful fourth year with its ‘Feeding Britain’s Future’ programme.
Almost 200 companies across the grocery, food, farming and foodservice sectors lent their support to ‘Feeding Britain’s Future’ and in total, the programme has helped more than 16,000 young people get back on their feet this year.
IGD, alongside Jobcentre Plus, offered workshops focusing on the jobseeker's journey, encouraging participants to practice everything from CV writing to interview techniques.
Joanne Denney-Finch, IGD chief executive, said: “Several high-profile people lent their support to the programme in 2015. MPs, grocery CEOs and even a member of the Royal Family dedicated time and energy to seeing Feeding Britain’s Future in action, united in their commitment to creating a brighter employment future for young people throughout the UK.
Feeding Britain’s Future is helping to make a real impact on thousands of young people considering their future and actively seeking work. Our industry is 3.8 million strong, accounting for one in seven jobs, making us the largest private sector employer.”
Iain Duncan Smith MP and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions also got involved in the programme, meeting local unemployed people at the Tesco Highams Park superstore in Waltham Forest, London.
