Le Groupement des Mousquetaires has posted a 2014 turnover of €40.1 billion.
Sales were up 1.3 per cent in Europe overall for the French group (excluding fuel).
In France Intermarché, the biggest of the group's subsidiariers, recorded a 1.7-per-cent increase in turnover (excluding fuel).
Jean-Pierre Meunier, president of le Groupement Les Mousquetaires, was understandably contented by the 2014 results. In a press conference, he said "For the first time ever we have reached the €40 billion mark [for turnover]. In the context of a price war between massive retailers, we have played our part in meeting the needs of our various brands' customers."
