Opened in April, the newly built Inkoop in Harpstedt places sustainability at the core of its design.
The store was built in cooperation with design and shopfitting company Interstore | Schweitzer and marks the fourth time that the two firms have worked together.
The entire building was constructed using a timber frame, with wall cladding made from Siberian larch installed on the outside and high windows providing plenty of natural light.
The store boasts a photovoltaic system on the roof, which, together with the concrete core activation system integrated into the floor, will enable it to be self-sufficient in energy in the medium term.
Another novel addition to the roof is an apiary, from which honey is produced that is then sold in the store. Inkoop is a partner of German retailer Edeka.
