Italian retailer Conad has said that it is anticipating sales growth of 4.2% at year end 2015. Sales at the retailer will this year hit €12.2 billion, compared to the previous year, it said in a statement.
Conad said that this growth is being driven by a ‘strategic development plan’ that has boosted its supermarket and hypermarket businesses.
In 2016, the retailer plans to invest €188 million in expanding and renovating its store network, with 88 new openings planned, and the creation of 1,300 jobs.
“We are investing in the future with solutions and services that are as close as possible to the expectations of those who look to us for quality and convenience,” said Conad chief executive Francesco Pugliese.
As of 17 December, Conad operates 3,062 stores across Italy, including 1,039 Conad supermarkets and 989 Conad City stores.
